Domestic Worker Visa UK l Appliction Process and Guidance

Have worked for their employer outside the UK for at least one year before applying.

Provide evidence of their employment relationship, such as contracts and payslips.

Hold a valid job offer from their employer in the UK.

Employers must demonstrate a genuine need for a domestic worker and provide suitable accommodation.

Stricter Employer Requirements:

Employers must now prove efforts to hire domestically before recruiting from overseas.

Higher Salary Thresholds:

The minimum salary requirement has increased to align with new immigration policies.

Limited Job Mobility:

Domestic workers face restrictions when switching employers within the UK.

Gather Required Documents:

Proof of employment (contracts, payslips).
Evidence of relationship with employer (letters, photos).
Financial documents proving employer’s ability to support the worker.
Valid passport with at least six months’ validity.
Tuberculosis (TB) test results, if required.

Submit Application:

Complete the online application form on the UK Home Office website.
Pay the visa fee and schedule a biometric appointment.
Attend the appointment for fingerprinting and photograph collection.

Rights of Domestic Workers

Fair Pay: Must receive at least the National Minimum Wage.
Safe Working Conditions: Employers must provide a healthy work environment.
Personal Freedom: Workers have the right to keep their passports and personal belongings.
Rest Periods: Entitled to breaks and days off.

Responsibilities of Domestic Workers

Perform duties as agreed in the contract.
Respect employer’s privacy and property.
Comply with UK laws, including immigration regulations.

Exploitation Risks:

Long hours, low pay, or poor conditions.

Limited Job Mobility:

Restrictions on changing employers.

Separation from Family:

Emotional challenges due to extended stays abroad.

Language & Cultural Barriers:

Adjusting to life in the UK.
