To determine the exact amount, you will need to pay for your visa, you must first know its length. Keep in mind that a visa may be longer than your period of study or employment.
For a one-year visa, the cost is £776 for students, their dependants, and those on a Youth Mobility Scheme visa.
For visa and immigration applicants under the age of 18 at the time of application, the cost is also £776 per year.
For all other visa and immigration applications, the cost is £1,035 per year.
If you are applying for a visa for part of a year, the amount you must pay depends on the length of the visa and where you are applying from.
If you are applying from outside of the UK for 6 months or less, you do not need to pay the surcharge.
If you are applying from inside the UK, you must pay half the yearly cost. For example, this would be £388 for students, their dependants, Youth Mobility Scheme or under-18 applications, and £517.50 for any other application.
For visa periods that are more than 6 months but less than one year, you will have to pay the cost of a full year, regardless of where you are applying from.
If your visa is for more than a year, you will need to pay the yearly cost plus half the yearly cost for 18 months or less. If it is for more than 18 months but less than 2 years, you will need to pay the cost of 2 full years.
